Jayant Narlikar

Jayant Narlikar, born on July nineteenth, nineteen thirty-eight, is a distinguished Indian astrophysicist renowned for his pioneering research in alternative cosmology. His academic journey began at Banaras Hindu University and continued at Cambridge University, where he earned his PhD in nineteen sixty-three under the mentorship of the esteemed Fred Hoyle.

Following his postdoctoral work in Cambridge, Narlikar made significant contributions to the field of astronomy when he was appointed a professor at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in nineteen seventy-two. His expertise and leadership were further recognized in nineteen eighty-eight when he became the inaugural director of the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA).
