Jean Chardin

Jean Chardin, born Jean-Baptiste Chardin on 16 November 1643, was a remarkable figure in the realms of travel, writing, and commerce. His journey began in France, where he established himself as a jeweller before embarking on extensive travels that would shape his legacy.

In 1681, at the age of thirty-seven, Chardin made a significant life change by emigrating to England. This move marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life, where he would become known as Sir John Chardin. His experiences during his travels provided him with a wealth of knowledge and insight into the cultures of the Near East.

Chardin's most notable contribution to literature is his ten-volume work, The Travels of Sir John Chardin.
