Jean-Claude Hollerich

Jean-Claude Hollerich, born on August ninth, nineteen fifty-eight, is a prominent Luxembourgish Catholic prelate who has made significant contributions to the Church and society. Since two thousand eleven, he has served as the Archbishop of Luxembourg, a role that underscores his commitment to spiritual leadership and community service.

Hollerich's academic and pastoral journey has taken him across various countries, including Belgium, Germany, and Luxembourg. Notably, he expanded his horizons by studying in Japan from nineteen eighty-five to nineteen eighty-nine and later working there from nineteen ninety-four until two thousand eleven. His diverse experiences have enriched his perspective and approach to ministry.

In recognition of his dedication and service, Pope Francis elevated him to the rank of cardinal on October fifth, two thousand nineteen, making him the first cardinal from Luxembourg. Hollerich is also a member of the Council of Cardinals and has been a close ally of Pope Francis, often regarded as a potential papabile during the conclave that followed the Pope's passing.
