Jean de Dunois

Jean de Dunois, born on November twenty-third, fourteen hundred and two, was a prominent French military leader during the tumultuous period of the Hundred Years' War. He is best remembered for his significant role in military campaigns alongside the legendary Joan of Arc, showcasing his strategic prowess and dedication to the French cause.

Known by the moniker the 'Bastard of Orléans', Jean's nickname reflected his noble lineage, as he was a first cousin to the king and the acting head of a cadet branch of the royal family during the captivity of his half-brother. This title not only highlighted his high status but also underscored his importance in the political landscape of France at the time.

In fourteen thirty-nine, Jean de Dunois was granted the county of Dunois by his half-brother, Charles I, Duke of Orléans. His contributions to the French military efforts did not go unnoticed, as he later received the title of count of Longueville from King Charles VII, further solidifying his influence and legacy within the royal court.
