Jean Derome, born on June twenty-ninth, nineteen fifty-five, is a distinguished French Canadian avant-garde saxophonist, flautist, and composer. He has made significant contributions to the Montreal musique actuelle scene, where he has established himself as a prominent figure in the realms of experimental, jazz, and rock music.
Throughout his illustrious career, Derome has been a vital member of various musical groups and has lent his talents to over thirty albums, including seven solo projects. His versatility as a musician is further highlighted by his work in film, where he has composed scores for more than thirty films.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Derome co-founded Ambiances Magnétiques, a Canadian musical collective and independent record label that has played a crucial role in promoting innovative music.
