Jeezy

Jay Wayne Jenkins, widely recognized by his stage name Jeezy, was born on September 28, 1977. As an influential American rapper, songwriter, and music executive, he has played a pivotal role in bringing the hip hop subgenre of trap music to mainstream audiences. Alongside fellow Georgia-based artists T.I. and Gucci Mane, Jeezy has been instrumental in shaping the sound and culture of modern hip hop.

Jeezy's musical journey began in 2001 with the release of two independent albums, which laid the groundwork for his major label debut, Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101, in 2005. This album achieved remarkable success, peaking at number two on the Billboard 200 and selling one hundred seventy-two thousand copies in its first week. It was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, with the lead single, 'Soul Survivor' featuring Akon, reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100, marking it as his highest-charting song.

Following his debut, Jeezy continued to build on his success with his second and third albums, Thug Motivation 102: The Inspiration and The Recession, both of which topped the Billboard 200. The latter earned a Grammy Award nomination for its lead single, 'Put On' featuring Kanye West. His ninth album, Trap or Die 3, released in 2016, also peaked at the top of the charts, further solidifying his status in the music industry.

In addition to his solo work, Jeezy is the de facto leader of the Southern hip hop group United Streets Dopeboyz of America (U.S.D.A.) and was a member of the Bad Boy Records group Boyz n da Hood. He founded his record label, CTE World, in 2001, which has signed notable artists such as YG and Freddie Gibbs. Throughout his career, Jeezy has also collaborated with various artists across genres, contributing to numerous R&B singles and further expanding his influence in the music world.
