Jeff Agoos

Jeff Agoos, born on May second, nineteen sixty-eight, is a distinguished American former professional soccer player renowned for his defensive prowess. He is celebrated as one of the all-time appearance leaders for the United States national team, showcasing his commitment and skill on the international stage.

Throughout his illustrious career, Agoos achieved remarkable success in Major League Soccer, securing a record five MLS championships—three with D.C. United and two with the San Jose Earthquakes. His accolades also include winning the U.S. Open Cup in nineteen ninety-six and being honored as the MLS Defender of the Year in two thousand one. In recognition of his contributions to the sport, he was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in two thousand nine.

After hanging up his boots, Agoos transitioned into a pivotal role in soccer management. He served as the Technical Director and Sporting Director for the New York Red Bulls, followed by a position as Vice President of Competition for Major League Soccer. Currently, he holds the esteemed title of President and General Manager of Soccer Operations for Portland Thorns FC, where he continues to influence the game.
