Jefferson Farfán

Jefferson Farfán, a celebrated former professional footballer from Peru, is renowned for his exceptional speed and technical prowess on the field. Commonly referred to as Farfán or by his affectionate nickname, Foquita, which translates to 'Little Seal' in Spanish, he made a significant impact during his career, particularly in the Bundesliga where he was one of the top assist providers.

Farfán's football journey began with Deportivo Municipal and Alianza Lima, where he made his professional debut in 2001. His talent quickly shone through, and by 2002, he was recognized as one of the brightest prospects in Peruvian football. He secured his first Primera División title a year later and added another in 2004, earning accolades as the best Peruvian player of that year.

In mid-2004, Farfán took a significant step in his career by joining PSV Eindhoven, contributing to the club's success with four Eredivisie titles. His move to Schalke 04 in 2008 marked a new chapter, where he played a pivotal role in winning the 2011 DFB-Pokal Final and was later named the most expensive Latin American player in the Bundesliga in 2012. After a brief stint with Al-Jazira in the UAE, he concluded his playing days at Lokomotiv in Russia, where he helped the team secure their first league title in fourteen years and finished as the top scorer.

On the international stage, Farfán is celebrated as Peru's second top goalscorer, trailing only Paolo Guerrero.
