Jefimija

Jefimija, born Jelena Mrnjavčević in the year 1349, emerged as a prominent figure in Serbian literature and art during the late medieval period. As a noblewoman and the wife of Jovan Uglješa Mrnjavčević, she transcended the traditional roles of women in her time, becoming a celebrated poet, writer, and painter.

Her contributions to Serbian poetry are particularly noteworthy, as she is recognized as the first female Serbian poet.
