Jennifer Wexton

Jennifer Wexton, born on May twenty-seventh, nineteen sixty-eight, is a prominent American politician and lawyer. She made her mark in the political landscape as the U.S. representative for Virginia's tenth congressional district from two thousand nineteen to two thousand twenty-five. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Wexton previously served in the Virginia Senate from two thousand fourteen to two thousand nineteen.

Her political journey began in the Virginia Senate, where she represented the thirty-third district, encompassing parts of Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. In two thousand eighteen, Wexton achieved a significant victory by defeating the Republican incumbent Barbara Comstock with fifty-six percent of the vote. She successfully secured re-election in both two thousand twenty and two thousand twenty-two, establishing herself as a moderate voice within her party.

In September two thousand twenty-three, Wexton faced a personal challenge when she was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy. This diagnosis led her to announce that she would not seek re-election in two thousand twenty-four. Following her decision, she was succeeded by Democratic state senator Suhas Subramanyam, marking the end of her impactful tenure in Congress.
