Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Jenny Thompson

Jenny Thompson, born on February twenty-sixth, nineteen seventy-three, is a celebrated American swimmer and one of the most decorated Olympians in history. With a remarkable total of twelve Olympic medals, including eight golds, she made her mark in the Summer Olympics of nineteen ninety-two, nineteen ninety-six, two thousand, and two thousand four.

Hailing from Massachusetts and now calling Dover, New Hampshire, her hometown, Thompson began her swimming journey at the tender age of seven at Cedardale, a summer country club in Groveland, Massachusetts. She honed her skills at the Danvers YMCA from ages eight to ten and later at the Andover-North Andover YMCA until she was twelve. At that age, she joined the Seacoast Swimming Association, where she was coached by Amy and Mike Parratto, and moved to Dover at thirteen.

Thompson burst onto the international swimming scene at just fourteen years old during the Pan American Games in nineteen eighty-seven, where she won the fifty-meter freestyle and secured a third-place finish in the one hundred-meter freestyle. Her first world championship victory came in nineteen ninety as part of the USA's triumphant four-by-one hundred meter freestyle relay team, and she held world records in the fifty-meter and one hundred-meter freestyle events during the nineteen ninety-two Summer Olympics in Barcelona.

After her illustrious swimming career, Thompson attended Stanford University, where she swam for the Stanford Cardinal swimming and diving team in NCAA and Pacific-10 Conference competitions. Her outstanding performance earned her the prestigious Honda Sports Award for Swimming and Diving in nineteen ninety-four to ninety-five, recognizing her as the top female college swimmer of the year. In two thousand six, she earned a medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed a residency in anesthesiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, and pursued a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Children's Hospital of Boston.
