Jenő Buzánszky

Jenő Buzánszky, born on May fourth, nineteen twenty-five, was a distinguished Hungarian football player and coach, renowned for his role as a right back. He was a pivotal member of the legendary squad known as the Golden Team during the 1950s, which included illustrious players such as Ferenc Puskás, Zoltán Czibor, Sándor Kocsis, József Bozsik, and Nándor Hidegkuti. Notably, Buzánszky was the only member of this iconic team who did not play for either Honvéd or MTK Hungária FC.

His international career began with his debut for Hungary on November twelfth, nineteen fifty, in a match that ended in a one-one draw against Bulgaria. Over the course of his career, he earned forty-eight caps for the national team, contributing to Hungary's remarkable achievements, including winning the Olympic gold medal in nineteen fifty-two and the Central European Championship in nineteen fifty-three. Buzánszky was also part of the historic Hungary team that triumphed over England on two occasions.

During the nineteen fifty-four World Cup, he showcased his skills by participating in all five matches for Hungary. After an impressive career that spanned two hundred seventy-four league games, he transitioned into coaching and later took on the role of deputy chairman of the Hungarian Football Federation in nineteen ninety-six.

Jenő Buzánszky passed away on January eleventh, twenty fifteen, at the age of eighty-nine, after a prolonged illness. He was the last surviving member of the Mighty Magyars, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire future generations of footballers.
