Jermaine Jenas, born on February 18, 1983, is a former professional footballer and current sports commentator from England. He began his career at Nottingham Forest, making his professional debut at the tender age of seventeen. Jenas quickly made a name for himself, moving to Newcastle United for a transfer fee of five million pounds, where he earned his first senior England cap in February 2003 at just nineteen years old. His talent was recognized when he was awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year for the 2002–03 season.
Throughout his career, Jenas played as a central midfielder for several prominent clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Queens Park Rangers. He scored a total of thirty-nine goals in three hundred forty-one league appearances. His time at Tottenham was particularly notable, as he was part of the squad that won the Football League Cup in the 2007–08 season. Jenas also represented the England national team, earning twenty-one caps and scoring one goal, although he was an unused substitute during the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
In the latter stages of his playing career, Jenas experienced loan spells at Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest before making a permanent move to Queens Park Rangers in January 2013. Unfortunately, he faced several serious injuries that hampered his performance and ultimately led to his retirement from professional football. Despite these challenges, he remained involved in the sport through media work, becoming a well-known pundit for the BBC and BT Sport.
Jenas also co-presented The One Show for the BBC from 2020 until his dismissal in 2024 due to inappropriate behavior. His transition from player to commentator has allowed him to maintain a significant presence in the world of football, sharing his insights and experiences with fans and viewers alike.
