Jérôme Ferrari

Jérôme Ferrari, born in 1968, is a distinguished French writer and translator known for his profound literary contributions. He gained significant recognition in 2012 when he was awarded the prestigious Prix Goncourt for his novel Le Sermon sur la chute de Rome (The Sermon on the Fall of Rome), a testament to his skillful storytelling and deep philosophical insights.

Ferrari's life has been marked by a rich tapestry of experiences, having lived in Corsica and taught philosophy at various esteemed institutions. His teaching career includes several years at the Lycée international Alexandre-Dumas in Algiers and later at the Lycée Fesch of Ajaccio. Until 2015, he also served as a professor of philosophy at the French School of Abu Dhabi, where he inspired many students with his knowledge and passion for the subject.

His literary works have transcended language barriers, with several novels translated into English. Notably, Where I Left My Soul, published in 2012, is set against the backdrop of the mid-1950s during the Algerian war, reflecting on the historical context of the Second World War and the French defeat in Indochina, while also foreshadowing the collapse of the Fourth Republic in 1958.

Most recently, Ferrari's novel In His Own Image has been made available in English translation by Europa Editions, further showcasing his ability to engage readers across cultures and languages.
