Jerry Brudos, born on January thirty-first, nineteen thirty-nine, was an American serial killer infamous for his heinous acts in Salem, Oregon. Known as the Lust Killer and the Shoe Fetish Slayer, Brudos's criminal activities spanned from nineteen sixty-eight to nineteen sixty-nine, during which he kidnapped, raped, and murdered four young women. His depraved actions also included attempts to abduct two additional victims.
All of Brudos's murders were committed in the confines of his car or within the basement and garage workshop of the homes he occupied at the time. Each of his victims met a tragic end through strangulation, and several were subjected to horrific post-mortem dismemberment. Disturbingly, Brudos engaged in acts of necrophilia with the bodies of his victims, retaining select body parts—primarily severed breasts or feet—as a means to assert his dominance and indulge his sexual fetishes for women's feet, lingerie, and shoes.
In the wake of his crimes, Brudos was sentenced to three consecutive life terms in prison, which he served at the Oregon State Penitentiary. His life came to an end in two thousand six due to liver cancer while he remained incarcerated. The monikers he earned, the Lust Killer and the Shoe Fetish Slayer, reflect the primal motivations behind his gruesome acts and his lifelong obsession with footwear.
