Jerry Cantrell

Jerry Fulton Cantrell Jr., born on March 18, 1966, is a prominent American guitarist, singer, and songwriter, renowned for his pivotal role in the rock band Alice in Chains. As the founder, lead guitarist, co-lead vocalist, and principal songwriter, Cantrell helped propel the band to international acclaim during the early 1990s, a period marked by Seattle's grunge movement. The band's unique sound is characterized by the harmonized vocals of Cantrell and Layne Staley, and later with William DuVall.

Initially serving as a secondary lead vocalist on the 1992 EP Sap, Cantrell stepped into the spotlight as the principal lead vocalist following Staley's passing in 2002. His contributions are evident in the albums Black Gives Way to Blue (2009), The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here (2013), and Rainier Fog (2018), where DuVall primarily performed the older Staley tracks during live shows.

In addition to his work with Alice in Chains, Cantrell has pursued a successful solo career, releasing albums such as Boggy Depot in 1998, Degradation Trip Volumes 1 & 2 in 2002, and Brighten in 2021. His latest project, I Want Blood, is set to release in 2024.
