Jerry Harrison, born on February twenty-first, nineteen forty-nine, is a multifaceted American musician, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur. He first gained prominence as a member of the influential band the Modern Lovers, before taking on the role of keyboardist and guitarist for the iconic new wave group Talking Heads. His contributions to the music industry were recognized in two thousand two when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Talking Heads.
After the disbandment of Talking Heads in nineteen ninety-one, following David Byrne's announcement, Harrison shifted his focus towards music production. This journey began while he was still with the band, producing Elliott Murphy's album Milwaukee and later collaborating with Violent Femmes on their third album, The Blind Leading the Naked, released in nineteen eighty-six.
Throughout the nineteen nineties, Harrison produced several successful albums for various bands, including Live, The Verve Pipe, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, among others. In addition to his production work, he has released three solo albums during the active years of Talking Heads and has participated in several partial reunions of the band.
In nineteen ninety-nine, he co-founded the online music community GarageBand.com, further showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to the evolution of music in the digital age.
