Jerzy Janowicz

Jerzy Filip Janowicz Jr., born on November 13, 1990, is a distinguished Polish former professional tennis player who has transitioned into padel. He made history by becoming the first Polish man to reach a major semifinal at the prestigious 2013 Wimbledon Championships, a milestone that marked a significant achievement in Polish tennis.

Despite not securing an ATP Tour title during his career, Janowicz reached a remarkable career-high singles ranking of world No. 14 in August 2013. His prowess on the court was further demonstrated by achieving a doubles ranking of No. 47 in the same month, showcasing his versatility as an athlete.

Janowicz's rise to prominence was catalyzed by his impressive performance as a qualifier at the 2012 Paris Masters, where he defeated five top-20 players, including notable names like Andy Murray and Janko Tipsarević. Although he finished as the runner-up to David Ferrer in the finals, this performance propelled him into the top thirty of the ATP rankings, establishing him as the Polish No. 1.

In recognition of his contributions to the sport, Janowicz was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit by Polish President Bronisław Komorowski in 2013.
