Jillian Camarena-Williams

Jillian Camarena-Williams, born on March 2, 1982, in Woodland, California, is a distinguished American retired track and field athlete known for her prowess in the shot put. Standing at five feet ten inches tall and weighing two hundred fifty pounds, she has made significant contributions to athletics, representing the United States at both the 2008 and 2012 Beijing Olympics, as well as competing at the World Championships.

Her athletic journey began with remarkable achievements at the Pan American Junior Championships, where she claimed back-to-back titles in the shot put in 1999 and 2001. Domestically, she solidified her status as a top competitor by winning the USA Outdoor Championship in the shot put twice, in 2006 and 2010. In a historic moment for American athletics, Camarena-Williams set an indoor record in the shot put at the 2011 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, achieving a remarkable mark of nineteen point eighty-seven meters, surpassing a record that had stood since 1987.

Jillian's academic pursuits led her to Stanford University for her undergraduate studies, followed by graduate studies at Brigham Young University. A proud member of the Latter-day Saint community, she balances her athletic career with her personal life, having married her physiotherapist, Dustin Williams, in 2010.

On July 29, 2016, she announced her retirement from competitive athletics during the four city team challenge at Track Town, USA in Eugene, Oregon, which aired on ESPN, marking the end of an illustrious career.
