Jim Archibald

James L. Archibald, born on June 6, 1961, is a notable Canadian former ice hockey player who made his mark in the National Hockey League as a right winger. His professional journey began after being drafted in the seventh round, one hundred thirty-ninth overall, by the Minnesota North Stars during the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. Archibald honed his skills at the University of North Dakota, where he played until 1985.

During his NHL career, Archibald participated in sixteen regular season games, where he scored one goal and provided two assists. His experience extended beyond the NHL, as he also played in the American Hockey League for the Springfield Indians and in the International Hockey League with the Kalamazoo Wings, showcasing his versatility and dedication to the sport.

After his playing days, Archibald took on the role of head coach in Brainerd, Minnesota, where he had the opportunity to coach his son, Josh Archibald. Under his guidance, Josh excelled and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, furthering the Archibald legacy in ice hockey. Josh was also a finalist for the prestigious Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award in 2011, highlighting the family's deep connection to the sport.
