Jim Yong Kim

Jim Yong Kim, born on December 8, 1959, is a distinguished American physician and anthropologist who has made significant contributions to global health and education. He served as the 12th president of the World Bank from 2012 to 2019, where he focused on addressing poverty and promoting sustainable development worldwide.

Before his tenure at the World Bank, Kim was a prominent figure in academia and healthcare. He held the position of chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, where he influenced the next generation of health leaders. Additionally, he co-founded Partners In Health, an organization dedicated to improving healthcare for the world's poorest populations.

Kim's leadership extended to higher education when he became the president of Dartmouth College from 2009 to 2012, marking a historic moment as he was the first Asian American to lead an Ivy League institution. His innovative approaches to education and health have earned him recognition, including being named the world's fiftieth most powerful person by Forbes Magazine in 2013.
