Jimmie Johnson

Jimmie Johnson, born on September 17, 1975, in El Cajon, California, is a renowned American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. He currently competes part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 84 Toyota Camry XSE for Legacy Motor Club, and in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, piloting the No. 1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for Tricon Garage. With an impressive record of seven Cup championships, including five consecutive titles, Johnson is tied with legends Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt for the most championships in NASCAR history.

Johnson's racing journey began at the tender age of four when he started racing motorcycles. After graduating from Granite Hills High School, he ventured into off-road racing, competing in various series such as the Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group (MTEG), Short-course Off-road Drivers Association (SODA), and SCORE International, where he earned rookie of the year honors in each. In 1998, he transitioned to stock car racing with Herzog Motorsports, later moving to the American Speed Association (ASA) series, where he again claimed a rookie title.

His talent caught the eye of Jeff Gordon, a driver for Hendrick Motorsports, who played a pivotal role in securing Johnson a full-time ride in the Winston Cup Series in 2002. Johnson quickly made his mark, finishing fifth in points during his rookie season and achieving second place in the following years. His first Cup Series championship came in 2006, and he went on to win four more titles consecutively, making history as the first driver to achieve such a feat.

In addition to his championships, Johnson is a two-time Daytona 500 winner, having triumphed in 2006 and 2013. Over his illustrious career from 2002 to 2017, he amassed 83 career race wins, 222 top-five finishes, 341 top-ten finishes, and 35 pole positions. After a brief stint in the IndyCar Series from 2021 to 2022, Johnson continues to be a prominent figure in the racing world, occasionally participating in sports car racing.
