JJ Redick, born on June 24, 1984, is a distinguished American basketball coach and former player, currently serving as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). His basketball journey began at Duke University, where he showcased his exceptional talent, earning accolades such as the Naismith College Player of the Year and setting numerous records, including being the all-time leading scorer for the Blue Devils.

Drafted eleventh overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2006 NBA Draft, Redick enjoyed a prolific fifteen-season career in the NBA, playing for six different teams. His tenure with the Magic spanned seven seasons, followed by brief stints with the Milwaukee Bucks and four seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers. He later signed contracts with the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Orleans Pelicans, before concluding his playing career with the Dallas Mavericks in 2021.

Renowned for his remarkable three-point shooting and free-throw accuracy, Redick set several Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) records, including most points scored in both career and tournament play. His legacy includes multiple NCAA free-throw percentage records and single-season three-point field goal records for various teams.

In addition to his on-court achievements, Redick made history in 2016 by becoming the first active NBA player to launch a weekly podcast during the regular season.
