Jo-Ann Roberts, born in September nineteen fifty-six, is a prominent Canadian politician, environmentalist, and former journalist. She made her mark as the interim leader of the Green Party of Canada from November four, two thousand nineteen, to October three, two thousand twenty, following the departure of Elizabeth May from the leadership role.
Before stepping into the interim leadership, Roberts served as the deputy leader of the Green Party since March two thousand eighteen. Her career in broadcasting with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation laid a strong foundation for her political endeavors. Over the years, she has been a federal Green Party candidate on three occasions, contesting in Victoria in two thousand fifteen and in Halifax during the elections of two thousand nineteen and two thousand twenty-one.
In October two thousand twenty-one, Roberts was elected as the deputy leader of the Green Party of Nova Scotia, working alongside Anthony Edmonds, who took on the role of party leader. Together, they initiated a shadow cabinet aimed at electing the first Green Member of the Legislative Assembly to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in the upcoming elections. In April two thousand twenty-four, she stepped down from her position as Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Nova Scotia.
