Jo-Anne McArthur

Jo-Anne McArthur, born on December twenty-third, nineteen seventy-six, is a distinguished Canadian photojournalist, author, and animal rights activist. Renowned for her impactful We Animals project, she meticulously documents the intricate relationships between humans and animals through her evocative photography.

In addition to her photography, McArthur is a dedicated humane educator. Through the We Animals Humane Education program, she engages audiences in educational settings, fostering awareness about the connections we share with animals. Her commitment extends to the We Animals Archive, where she provides valuable resources for those advocating for animal welfare.

McArthur's work has been recognized in various forms, including her role as the primary subject in the acclaimed 2013 documentary, The Ghosts in Our Machine, directed by Liz Marshall. Alongside Keri Cronin, she co-founded the Unbound Project, which celebrates the contributions of female animal activists.
