Joachim of Fiore

Joachim of Fiore, born around the year one thousand one hundred thirty-five, was a prominent Italian theologian and a Catholic abbot. He is best known for founding the monastic order of San Giovanni in Fiore, which played a significant role in the religious landscape of his time.

Regarded as the most important apocalyptic thinker of the medieval period by theologian Bernard McGinn, Joachim's ideas have had a lasting impact on Christian eschatology.
