Joannes

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Joannes

Joannes, born in the year four hundred, rose to prominence as a politician during a tumultuous period in the Western Roman Empire. His ascent to power came in the wake of the death of Emperor Honorius, a pivotal moment that left a power vacuum in the empire.

In the interregnum that followed, the patrician Castinus took the bold step of elevating Joannes to the position of emperor. This decision, however, was met with resistance from Theodosius II, the last ruler of the Theodosian dynasty, who refused to recognize Joannes' claim to the throne.

The ensuing conflict led to a civil war, marking a significant chapter in Joannes' brief reign. Ultimately, Theodosius II deposed Joannes, bringing an end to his rule in four hundred twenty-five, just two years after it began.
