Jocelyn Gould

Jocelyn Gould, a talented Canadian jazz guitarist born in June nineteen eighty-eight, has made significant strides in the world of music. Her debut album, Elegant Traveler, released in two thousand twenty, garnered critical acclaim and was awarded the prestigious Juno Award for Jazz Album of the Year - Solo in twenty twenty-one. This recognition solidified her status as a prominent figure in the jazz community.

In addition to her successful album, Gould showcased her exceptional skills by winning first place at the Wilson Centre International Jazz Guitar competition in two thousand eighteen. Her educational journey includes a degree from the University of Manitoba, followed by a Master’s of Music from Michigan State University, where she honed her craft under the guidance of renowned guitarist Randy Napoleon.

Throughout her career, Gould has collaborated with a variety of esteemed musicians, including Freddy Cole, Jodi Proznick, Laila Biali, Allison Au, and Will Bonness. Her performances reflect her deep understanding of jazz and her ability to connect with audiences through her music.

Beyond her performance career, Gould has contributed to the education of aspiring musicians as a faculty member and Head of the Guitar Department at Humber Polytechnic in Toronto. Her second album, Golden Hour, was released in two thousand twenty-two, further showcasing her evolving artistry and dedication to the genre.
