Joe Dumars

Joe Dumars, born on May 24, 1963, is a distinguished American professional basketball executive and former player, currently serving as the head of basketball operations for the New Orleans Pelicans. His versatility on the court allowed him to excel as both a shooting guard and point guard, showcasing his skills as a highly effective defender throughout his career.

Spending his entire fourteen-year career with the Detroit Pistons, Dumars became a key figure in the team's success during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Alongside the legendary Isiah Thomas, he formed one of the most formidable backcourts in NBA history, leading the Pistons to two championships and solidifying their legacy in the sport.

After Thomas' retirement in 1994, Dumars transitioned from shooting guard to point guard, sharing ball-handling responsibilities with Grant Hill. His leadership and experience were instrumental in guiding the team through this new era.

Beyond his playing days, Dumars continued to make an impact in the basketball world as the president of basketball operations for the Pistons from 2000 to 2014. His strategic vision contributed to the franchise's success, culminating in a third championship as an executive in 2004. In recognition of his remarkable contributions to the game, Dumars was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
