Joël Matip

Joël Matip, born on August 8, 1991, is a distinguished former professional footballer who made his mark as a centre back. He began his career with Schalke 04 in 2009, where he quickly established himself as a key player. During his time at the club, Matip contributed to their success, helping them secure the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup in 2011. Over the course of his tenure, he made a remarkable two hundred fifty-eight competitive appearances, netting twenty-three goals.

In 2016, Matip made a significant move to Liverpool on a free transfer, where he continued to excel on the pitch. His tenure at Liverpool was highlighted by a historic victory in the UEFA Champions League in 2019, where he played a crucial role by starting in the final. Additionally, he celebrated triumphs in the 2019 UEFA Super Cup and the 2019–20 Premier League, further solidifying his reputation as a top defender.
