Joel Pohjanpalo

Joel Pohjanpalo, born on September 13, 1994, is a talented Finnish professional footballer who currently plays as a forward for Serie B club Palermo and represents the Finland national team.

Pohjanpalo began his football journey with HJK, making his Veikkausliiga debut at the young age of seventeen on October 26, 2011. His career took a significant turn when he moved to Germany at nineteen in 2013, where he enjoyed several successful loan spells in both Germany and Turkey.

In 2022, Pohjanpalo departed Bayer Leverkusen and joined Italian side Venezia. His impact was immediate, as he quickly became a fan favorite and a cult hero, leading the team as captain to promotion to Serie A in 2024.

After two and a half seasons with Venezia, he made a move to Palermo in February 2025 for around five million euros. On the international stage, Pohjanpalo made his full debut for Finland in November 2012 at eighteen years old and has since earned over eighty caps, participating in the qualification matches for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups, as well as the UEFA Euro 2020 final tournament.
