Johannes Schober

Johannes Schober, born on November fourteenth, eighteen seventy-four, was a prominent Austrian jurist and politician whose career spanned several pivotal roles in the early twentieth century. He is best remembered for his tenure as the Chief of Police in Vienna, a position he held from nineteen eighteen until his passing, and as the founding president of Interpol, which he established in nineteen twenty-three.

Schober's political journey included serving as the Chancellor of Austria during two non-consecutive terms, first from June nineteen twenty-one to May nineteen twenty-two, and later from September nineteen twenty-nine to September nineteen thirty. His influence extended beyond these roles, as he undertook ten stints as an acting minister, overseeing various ministries such as education, finance, commerce, foreign affairs, justice, and the interior, often for brief periods.

Despite his significant political involvement, Schober maintained a unique position in Austrian history as the only Chancellor without an official ideological affiliation until two thousand nineteen. He was elected to the National Council as the leader of a coalition that included the Greater German People's Party and the Landbund, yet he never formally aligned himself with any political party.
