John Abizaid, born on April first, nineteen fifty-one, is a distinguished retired United States Army general and a prominent diplomat. He is best known for his tenure as the commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), where he played a pivotal role in shaping U.S. military strategy in the Middle East.

After thirty-four years of dedicated service, Abizaid retired from the Army in two thousand seven. Following his retirement, he took on significant academic and advisory roles, becoming a fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and assuming the Distinguished Chair of the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point in December of the same year.

In January two thousand eight, he was appointed to the board of directors of RPM International and also serves on the board of directors of the Defense Ventures Group. His contributions to education were recognized when he was selected as a Montgomery Fellow at Dartmouth College in two thousand eight.

Abizaid's diplomatic career reached new heights when he was nominated as the United States Ambassador to Saudi Arabia on November thirteenth, two thousand eighteen. He was confirmed by the Senate on April tenth, two thousand nineteen, and officially took office on April thirtieth, two thousand nineteen. He presented his credentials to King Salman on June sixteenth, two thousand nineteen, and concluded his ambassadorship on January twentieth, two thousand twenty-one. Currently, he serves as a senior advisor at Albright Stonebridge Group.
