John Bryson

John Bryson, born on July twenty-fourth, nineteen forty-three, is a distinguished American lawyer, entrepreneur, businessperson, and politician. His career is marked by significant contributions to both the private and public sectors, showcasing his versatility and leadership.

From two thousand eleven to two thousand twelve, Bryson served as the United States Secretary of Commerce, becoming the thirty-seventh individual to hold this esteemed position since its inception in nineteen thirteen. His tenure was notable, although it was cut short when he took a leave of absence in June two thousand twelve due to health issues stemming from vehicular accidents related to seizures.

Before his role in government, Bryson was a prominent figure in the corporate world, having served as chairman, chief executive officer, and president of Edison International, the parent company of Southern California Edison. His influence extended to the aerospace industry as well, where he held a directorship at The Boeing Company.

In addition to his corporate achievements, Bryson co-founded the Natural Resources Defense Council in nineteen seventy, alongside fellow Yale alumni, demonstrating his commitment to environmental advocacy and sustainable practices.
