John Kufuor

John Kufuor, born on December eighth, nineteen thirty-eight, is a distinguished Ghanaian politician, lawyer, and businessperson. He served as the tenth President of Ghana from two thousand one to two thousand nine, marking a significant era in the nation's democratic journey. His presidency is particularly noted for the peaceful transition of power from one democratic party to another, following his victory over John Atta Mills at the conclusion of Jerry Rawlings' second term.

Throughout his career, Kufuor has been a prominent figure in the liberal-democratic landscape of Ghanaian politics, aligning himself with parties that trace their roots back to the United Gold Coast Convention and the United Party. His political journey began as a minister in Kofi Abrefa Busia's Progress Party during Ghana's Second Republic, and he later served as an opposition frontbencher for the Popular Front Party during the Third Republic.

In the Fourth Republic, Kufuor emerged as the candidate for the New Patriotic Party in the nineteen ninety-six elections.
