John Lawrence LeConte

John Lawrence LeConte, born on May 13, 1825, was a distinguished American military physician and a prominent figure in the fields of entomology, zoology, and natural history. His contributions to the study of insects were monumental, as he was responsible for naming and describing approximately half of the insect taxa known in the United States during his lifetime.
