John M. Lounge

John M. Lounge, born on June twenty-eighth, nineteen forty-six, is a distinguished American military officer, engineer, and NASA astronaut. His career is marked by significant contributions to both the United States Navy and the space exploration efforts of NASA.

A Vietnam War veteran, Lounge's military service laid the foundation for his later achievements in space. He became a veteran of three Space Shuttle flights, showcasing his expertise and dedication to advancing human exploration beyond our planet.

During his time with NASA, Lounge served as a mission specialist on STS-51-I in nineteen eighty-five and STS-26 in nineteen eighty-eight. He also held the role of flight engineer on STS-35 in nineteen ninety, accumulating over four hundred eighty-two hours in space across these missions.
