John McEnroe

John Patrick McEnroe Jr., born on February 16, 1959, is a celebrated American former professional tennis player renowned for his exceptional skills on the court. He achieved remarkable success, holding the world No. 1 ranking in men's singles for an impressive 170 weeks and in men's doubles for 269 weeks, making him one of the few players to attain both rankings simultaneously.

Throughout his illustrious career, McEnroe became famous for his extraordinary shot-making and volleying abilities, as well as his intense rivalries with tennis legends Björn Borg and Jimmy Connors. His confrontational demeanor often led to disputes with umpires and tennis authorities, adding to his notoriety.

McEnroe's record of 155 career titles in the Open Era includes 77 singles titles, 77 doubles titles, and one mixed doubles title. His accolades feature seven singles majors, nine men's doubles majors, and a mixed doubles major, making him the only male player to surpass 70 titles in both singles and doubles.
