John Mott

John Mott, born on May twenty-fifth, eighteen sixty-five, was a prominent American evangelist, diplomat, theologian, and missionary. His remarkable career was marked by his long-standing leadership roles within the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) and the World Student Christian Federation (WSCF), where he served as General Secretary from eighteen ninety-five until nineteen twenty.

In recognition of his tireless efforts to foster international Protestant Christian student organizations dedicated to promoting peace, Mott was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in nineteen forty-six, sharing this prestigious honor with Emily Greene Balch. His influence extended beyond student organizations; he played a pivotal role in the formation of the World Council of Churches in nineteen forty-eight, which later honored him with the title of lifelong honorary President.

Mott's commitment to missionary work was encapsulated in his best-known publication, 'The Evangelization of the World in this Generation,' which became a rallying cry for missionaries in the early twentieth century.
