John of Bohemia, known as the Blind or of Luxembourg, was born on August tenth, one thousand two hundred ninety-six. He ascended to prominence as the Count of Luxembourg in the year one thousand three hundred thirteen and became the King of Bohemia just three years earlier, in one thousand three hundred ten. His reign was marked by significant political and military endeavors, including his claim to the title of King of Poland.

Despite facing the challenge of blindness for the last decade of his life, John remained a formidable figure on the battlefield. He is most famously remembered for his valiant participation in the Battle of Crécy, where he met his end at the age of fifty. His legacy is particularly cherished in Luxembourg, where he is celebrated as a national hero.

In the Czech Republic, historically known as the Kingdom of Bohemia, John is recognized not only for his own achievements but also as the father of Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor. Charles IV is regarded as one of the most significant kings in Bohemian history and a leading figure among the Holy Roman Emperors.
