John Swinney

John Swinney, born on April thirteenth, nineteen sixty-four, is a prominent Scottish politician who has made significant contributions to the political landscape of Scotland. He has served as the First Minister of Scotland since two thousand twenty-four, marking a pivotal moment in his career. Swinney's political journey began at the young age of fifteen when he joined the Scottish National Party (SNP), quickly rising through the ranks to become the National Secretary from nineteen eighty-six to nineteen ninety-two and later the Depute Leader from nineteen ninety-eight to two thousand.

His parliamentary career commenced when he was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tayside North from nineteen ninety-seven to two thousand one. Following the establishment of the Scottish Parliament, he became a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for North Tayside in nineteen ninety-nine, later representing Perthshire North from two thousand eleven. Swinney's leadership journey began in two thousand when he was elected as the SNP leader, a role he held until two thousand four, during which he faced challenges, including the party's performance in the general and Scottish Parliament elections.

In March two thousand twenty-three, following Sturgeon's resignation, Swinney stepped down from his senior positions but remained active in the Scottish Parliament. After Humza Yousaf's resignation in April two thousand twenty-four, he successfully ran for the SNP leadership election, becoming the party leader once again.
