John Tenta

John Anthony Tenta Jr., born on June 22, 1963, was a Canadian professional wrestler and sumo wrestler, widely recognized for his impactful presence in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) under the ring name Earthquake. Tenta's journey began with a promising career in sumo wrestling, where he competed as Kototenzan, showcasing his athletic prowess and dedication.

Transitioning to professional wrestling, Tenta quickly became a high-profile star, engaging in memorable feuds, most notably with the legendary Hulk Hogan. His formidable presence in the ring led him to capture the WWF Tag Team Championship as part of The Natural Disasters alongside his close friend, Typhoon, solidifying his status in the wrestling world.

Throughout his career, Tenta made significant contributions to various wrestling promotions, including World Championship Wrestling, where he was known as Avalanche and The Shark, as well as All Japan Pro Wrestling. He later returned to the WWF, adopting the persona of Golga, further demonstrating his versatility and appeal as a performer.

Tragically, John Tenta passed away on June 7, 2006, after a courageous battle with bladder cancer. His legacy continues to resonate within the wrestling community, and he was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2025, alongside Typhoon as part of The Natural Disasters, honoring his remarkable contributions to the sport.
