John the Fearless

John the Fearless, born on May twenty-eighth, thirteen seventy-one, was a prominent figure in the French royal lineage, serving as the Duke of Burgundy from fourteen oh four until his untimely assassination in fourteen nineteen. His tenure was marked by significant involvement in the tumultuous political landscape of early fifteenth-century France, particularly during the ongoing Hundred Years' War against England.

As a bold and often ruthless politician, John sought to manipulate the power dynamics of the French court. His most notorious act was the murder of Charles VI's brother, the Duke of Orléans, which was a calculated move to seize control of the government. This brutal act ignited the Armagnac–Burgundian Civil War, further complicating the already fragile state of the kingdom.

John's actions not only led to his own assassination in fourteen nineteen but also had lasting repercussions for the French monarchy. The involvement of Charles VII, the rightful heir to the throne, in John's death prompted his son, Philip III the Good, to forge an alliance with the English, thus propelling the Hundred Years' War into its final phase.
