Johnny Weissmuller

Johnny Weissmuller, born on June second, nineteen oh four, was a remarkable figure in the world of sports and entertainment. A Hungarian-born German American, he made his mark as an Olympic swimmer and water polo player, boasting one of the most impressive competitive swimming records of the twentieth century. Weissmuller achieved the extraordinary feat of winning five gold medals at the Olympics, setting world records along the way.

His Olympic journey began in the nineteen twenty-four Summer Olympics held in Paris, where he triumphed in the 100m freestyle and contributed to the victory of the 4 × 200 m relay team. He continued to shine in the nineteen twenty-eight Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, securing gold in the 400m freestyle and earning a bronze medal in the water polo competition in Paris.

After retiring from the pool, Weissmuller transitioned to a successful acting career, famously portraying Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan in twelve feature films from nineteen thirty-two to nineteen forty-eight. His portrayal of the iconic character captivated audiences, with six films produced by MGM and an additional six by RKO. Weissmuller further expanded his filmography by starring in sixteen Jungle Jim movies over an eight-year span, followed by twenty-six half-hour episodes of the Jungle Jim television series.
