Joice Runaida Mujuru, born on April fifteenth, nineteen fifty-five, is a prominent Zimbabwean revolutionary and politician. Known by her nom-de-guerre Teurai Ropa Nhongo, she made significant contributions to her country’s political landscape, serving as Vice-President of Zimbabwe from two thousand four until two thousand fourteen.
Before ascending to the vice-presidency, Mujuru held various ministerial positions and was a key figure within the ZANU–PF party, where she served as vice-president. Her political journey was marked by her marriage to Solomon Mujuru, a notable figure in Zimbabwean politics, until his passing in two thousand eleven.
Throughout her career, Mujuru was often viewed as a potential successor to President Robert Mugabe. However, in two thousand fourteen, she faced serious allegations of plotting against Mugabe, leading to her dismissal from the vice-presidency and the party leadership. Following her expulsion from ZANU–PF, she established the Zimbabwe People First party, continuing her political endeavors.
