Joliane Melançon

Joliane L. Melançon, born on March 22, 1986, in Blainville, Québec, is a dedicated judoka representing Canada on the international stage. Growing up in a suburb of Montreal, she discovered her passion for judo at the young age of eight. Faced with the choice between pursuing judo or playing the violin, Joliane's love for sports ultimately led her to commit to judo, a decision that would shape her future.

Currently training at the Club de judo de Varennes under the guidance of Denis Mechin, Joliane is also pursuing her studies in physical education at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Her dedication to both her sport and education exemplifies her commitment to excellence.

Joliane's competitive journey includes notable achievements such as competing in the 2009 World Judo Championships held in Rotterdam, where she faced a challenging match against Polish judoka Małgorzata Bielak. She also earned bronze medals at the Pan American Judo Championships in both two thousand nine and two thousand ten, further solidifying her status as a formidable athlete.

In two thousand eleven, she continued her success by winning another bronze medal for Canada at the Pan American Judo Championships. Her hard work culminated in her representation of Canada at the two thousand twelve Summer Olympics in the fifty-seven kilogram category, marking a significant milestone in her judo career.
