Jon Robert "J.R." Holden, born on August 10, 1976, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a distinguished American-Russian former professional basketball player and a current basketball executive. He is currently serving as a front office executive for the Detroit Pistons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), having previously held the position of director of player personnel for the Brooklyn Nets.
Standing at one point eighty-five meters tall, or six feet one inch, Holden showcased his versatility on the court by playing both point guard and shooting guard positions, although he primarily excelled as a point guard. His remarkable skills and leadership were evident during his tenure with CSKA Moscow, where he achieved significant success, winning two EuroLeague titles in two thousand six and two thousand eight.
Holden's impressive career in European basketball is highlighted by his participation in eight consecutive EuroLeague Final Four tournaments, a record he shares with his former teammate, Theo Papaloukas. His consistent performance at the highest levels of competition earned him a well-deserved spot on the EuroLeague 2000–2010 All-Decade Team.
In addition to his club success, Holden was a vital member of the senior men's Russian national basketball team, contributing to their historic victory at the FIBA EuroBasket in two thousand seven, which marked Russia's first-ever gold medal in the tournament.
