Jonas Staugaitis, born on May twentieth, eighteen sixty-eight, was a prominent Lithuanian politician and medical doctor. He pursued his medical studies at the University of Warsaw, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors in both medicine and politics.

In nineteen nineteen, Staugaitis entered the political arena by being elected to the Seimas, the Lithuanian parliament, as a member of the Lithuanian Popular Peasants' Union. His political career saw a significant milestone on June second, nineteen twenty-six, when he was elected as the Speaker of the Seimas.

Staugaitis's political journey took a dramatic turn during the December nineteen twenty-six coup d'état, where he served as the acting President of Lithuania. Although his tenure as the de jure President was brief, lasting only a few hours, it marked a pivotal moment in Lithuanian history. Following the completion of the coup, he renounced the presidency.

After a life dedicated to public service, Jonas Staugaitis passed away and was laid to rest in the Petrašiūnai cemetery in Kaunas, leaving behind a legacy intertwined with the tumultuous history of Lithuania.
