Jonathan Mensah

Jonathan Mensah, born on July 13, 1990, in Accra, is a distinguished former professional footballer from Ghana, renowned for his defensive prowess on the field. He began his career with Ashanti Gold in his home country before making a significant move to South Africa's Free State Stars, where he made forty appearances. His journey then took him to Europe, signing with Italian club Udinese, although he never played for them directly, instead spending time on loan at Granada, where he featured in fifteen matches.

In the 2011–12 season, Jonathan joined Evian in France's Ligue 1, where he faced challenges in securing consistent playing time, ultimately appearing in sixty games over five seasons. His next chapter unfolded in Russia with Anzhi Makhachkala, where he played a crucial role in helping the team avoid relegation during his first season. In 2017, he transitioned to Columbus Crew SC, achieving remarkable success by winning the MLS Cup and earning a spot in the MLS Best XI in 2020.

On the international stage, Jonathan has been a vital asset for the Ghana national team, contributing to their triumphs at the 2009 African Youth Championship and the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup. His impressive performances at the U-20 level led to his senior debut ahead of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, where he played a key role in the team's runner-up finish.
