Jonny Kim, born on February fifth, nineteen eighty-four, in Los Angeles to South Korean immigrants, has carved an extraordinary path as an American NASA astronaut, physician, and U.S. Navy officer. His journey began when he enlisted in the Navy in two thousand two, where he joined SEAL Team 3 and undertook over one hundred combat missions in the Middle East. His roles included combat medic, sniper, navigator, and point man, showcasing his versatility and dedication.

Throughout his military career, Kim earned prestigious accolades, including the Silver Star and Bronze Star with Combat 'V' for valor, ultimately achieving the rank of lieutenant commander. His academic achievements are equally impressive; he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of San Diego and earned his Doctor of Medicine from Harvard Medical School.

In addition to his military and medical accomplishments, Kim holds the rare distinction of being an Aerospace Medicine Dual Designator, a title that only seventy-nine individuals have achieved in the history of the U.S. Navy.
